Minev – Currents

Minev's single Currents plays with sonic space in a really interesting way. The drums are sparse and the textures are transparent. The resulting soundscape reminded me of a porest plantation with lots of space between the trees and clear skies above it. The trance-gated vocal chops add an extra bit of magic, and the dark, haunting and mysterious harmonies would appeal to fans of Deep Forest and Peter Gabriel.

Currents is a track about how the direction of life is set by a mixture of the choices you make and the unpredictable nature of fate. I tried to capture that with a fluid-sounding set of synths and a mixture of chords that sometimes sound troubled and other times sound peaceful. An aspect of the song is also inspired by my wife and how our relationship feels like the merging of two streams where we share in the ebbs, flows and turbulences of each other's life.
Killer Bee – in ur eyes

in ur eyes by successful NY/NJ-based producer Killer Bee should appeal to fans of New Order's sunnier, more optimistic tracks. It is adorned by similar synth and guitar textures, but goes one step further, creating a sonic centrifuge of pure rapture, optimism and joy by reducing vocals to a sort of texture that speaks more eloquently than any words ever could. Read on to learn what inspired this burst of beauty and sun.

Killer Bee
This is a loosie from my album 'Late Night Ramen 5' which I wanted to release in celebration of its 1-year birthday. The album is a celebration of my desire to experiment and not be bound by anyone's expectations, pursuing the music that I like to make and throwing things at the wall to see what sticks. I was listening to a lot of music by bands like New Order and Joy Division who I'm a big fan of and made this song in about a day from a series of Splice loops just trying to have fun.

Initially, I wanted it to be like a secret track for an even bigger 'avant garde' track of mine called "Pad Kee Mao" off the same album but I decided to release it since I thought people might like it. It's about a girl I met during an art residency in 2021 whose hazel eyes enraptured me when we first met. Her eyes were like the sunrise. I actually tried to avert my gaze at the time because of how immediately I was enamored. She was a painter and had such a beautiful view of the world around her. And I only wanted to be perceived by her.
